Our Standard Terms of Business:

1. This website is intended as a guide only. Nothing on this website is offered as legal advice, and nothing on this website should be taken as legal advice. You should always consult a solicitor for professional legal advice.

2. You should take no decision or action until you have received legal advice from a qualified solicitor. You should always give your solicitor a full and honest disclosure of relevant information, as well as your particular situation.

3. You must not delay getting legal advice. Your action or case could be disqualified if you leave it too long after the event.

4. After you contact LegalAdvice.ie, you will get a free consultation with a solicitor who is a member of LegalAdvice.ie. However, any preliminary comments or correspondence will be exploratory only, and will not constitute binding legal advice until you formally become a client.

5. If you wish to become a client of LegalAdvice.ie, the following steps are taken:

  • You send us a query, and request advice.
  • We reply and we arrange a consultation
  • Afterwards if you wish to appoint us, we write to you accepting your instructions, and we ask you to accept our Terms of Business. We will also provide an estimate of costs.
  • In some cases, we may ask for a retainer or fee payment in advance

6. LegalAdvice.ie advises on Irish law and EU law applicable in Ireland. If you require legal advice relating to another country, we can suggest a law firm to provide advice in that country, but we cannot guarantee or stand over their advice.

The contract entered between you as a client and LegalAdvice.ie shall be subject to the laws of Ireland, and any dispute shall ultimately be a matter for the Irish courts.

7. If you appoint LegalAdvice.ie as your solicitors, you must agree to our fees and billing arrangements. The levels of fee charged depends on the complexity of the case, the time and work involved, the value of the case, the urgency of the case, and the place where any proceedings are issued. In certain cases, you may be asked to pay a portion in advance.

Interim fee notes may be issued, and should be paid within 14 days of issue, or the case may be halted.

If requested, we will give you an estimate of fees, provided you give us all the relevant facts. If the case becomes more complex, we will give you a revised estimate. For some types of work we charge a fixed fee, and for certain cases we will charge no fee (but will charge for our costs) if we do not win your case, or get you a settlement. Please note however, that in litigation you may sometimes have to pay your opponent's cost as well as your own.

Examples of costs are: Stamp Duty, Commissioners Fees, Expert Witness fees, Filing and registration fees etc.

Please note that VAT at 20% is chargeable on solicitor's fees in Ireland. 8 The above represents the Standard Terms and Conditions of doing business with LegalAdvice.ie. Please note that these terms may be altered or varied according to the circumstances of each individual case or client.
